Communication Skills Essential to Leadership

Proverbs 10: 32 (MSG) The speech of a good person clears the air; the words of the wicked pollute it.

Corporate culture thrives when clear communication is a core value. That value is expressed when each at every level embraces all the values; when the culture supports communication without fear, even challenging the way “things are done;” and also, when the company “speaks” with integrity because its employees do. Idle words can be dangerous and what you say matters. Effective leadership in this positive culture is about keeping the "air clear." How easily communication can become polluted. Believers are admonished that our words must make a difference. We are called to be purveyors of peace with words that are fitting to our listeners. Words that encourage, edify and empower. Are you that kind of leader?

Griff,

I'm not understanding "Silo" thinking.

Is there another definition of a silo other than a feed storage building?

Also, our different attitude should integrate seamlessly with the "sacred" and the secular ... or were you making a different point?

Your e-mails and blogs are wonderful.

Thank you and God Bless,

John

John,
"Silo thinking" could be consider the anthesis of Collaborative Thinking - What's in my "silo - or feed storage building" stays there for me and I won't share it. Organizations often fall into that mode when Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Manufacturing fall to talk about the Customer as a group and only focus on the product from their speciality's perspective.

And making something really brief sometimes fails me: I was hoping to contrast those who practice a mode of managment that is self-centered and not team-based often also are those who would say that the "sacred" has not place in the workplace. I would posit that for a Believer, that is impossible - we must integrated the scared and the secular, and we must ask for "wise" or Godly counsel, pray about business decisions, read the Word to discover ethical and/or moral principles that would guide a buisiness decision.

All of that was "hidden" in that sentence "God has called Believers...with the secular."

And Thank You for commenting and encouraging.
